The SimSavvy Project is about using games and virtual worlds to develop 21st century skills.
Our Quest
We believe that addressing our current global challenges requires a fundamental shift in how we think and learn, in particular how we use digital technology to enhance our abilities to simulate, understand, and modify complex systems.
Why Games and Virtual Worlds?
Well-designed computer games and virtual worlds are simulations of experience that can encourage an embodied empathy for a complex system (Gee, 2006). Not only do players engage in problem-solving within these worlds, they can modify and create new simulations with digital tools. It seems worth exploring how such worlds can be used to engage learners in highly motivating and challenging learning, in and out of school.
